The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors today voted unanimously to appoint alum Richard Linton as the school’s 17th president, replacing Tim Sands who has served as VT’s president for more than 12 years. Sands had this to say shortly after Linton was appointed:
Linton, who has three degrees from Virginia Tech, had been the president of Kansas State University since 2022. During his introductory press conference, Linton said returning to Blacksburg is a full circle moment for him:
Linton will begin his role as president at the start of the spring semester.
