CATAWBA, Va. – A beloved local dining tradition is set to return. The Homeplace restaurant, a Southwest Virginia landmark known for its family-style Southern meals, will reopen under new ownership with a target date of Easter 2026.
The plan to revive the iconic restaurant ensures that a place holding decades of memories for local families will continue its legacy. In a statement Tuesday, the new owners confirmed they will keep the original name, recipes, and classic menu that made The Homeplace a regional destination.
In the announcement, the new owners, who were not named, shared their vision for preserving the restaurant’s character.
“We will continue with the legacy that the Wingate family started by keeping the name, recipes, and majority of the original menu,” the new owners stated. “The goal is to be back open and serving the community by Easter 2026.”
While committed to maintaining the restaurant’s nostalgic feel, the owners are also considering an expansion of service, including the possibility of adding breakfast and lunch on weekends and introducing monthly specials.
The reopening marks a new chapter for the Catawba fixture, promising the continuation of a cherished local tradition and a significant reinvestment in the community.
